I use AI daily for lots of things and I wouldn't agree they are effective in the last 10%.
For most uses, this is good enough. For any use where an expert will finish that last 10%, also good enough.
For how they are being used in non-trivial software, all the improvements reduce the ability to get to 100% ever.
So in most cases this is true, but for software we can count the non-trivial vibe coding successes on zero fingers. And their fitness benchmark is solving problems they were given the answers for in training, which they can reproduce.
